How your phone storage works

Your phone uses its built-in storage to speed up lots of everyday things for you. For example, instead of having to download videos every time you look at them, your phone will store those on its internal storage.

That means you can then see them instantly instead of having to wait, and can access them even when you don’t have any internet access.

This also uses a lot less battery than having to download them every time!

However, when your storage gets full, this no longer works properly. You’ll start to notice

Your phone will work best if you have 10-15GB of free space.

Step 1

Clean up “Recently Deleted” folder in Photos app

When you delete photos & videos, the files are not actually deleted instantly. This exists so that you can restore any photos that you might have accidentally deleted.

However this also means that the photos you thought were deleted are still using up space on your phone!

Go to Recently Deleted folder in the Photos app.

Press the Select button

Press 3-dots button and tap Delete All in the menu that pops up.
